About this tutorial

  • Tutorial type: Step by step text tutorial
  • Video version available: No

  • PSD file available: No

Step 1 – Placing your Foreground

Create a new Photoshop file size: 2362 x 3543 and resolution 300 px.
Place your foreground as shown in image 1. Add a Color Balance adjustment layer: +16, 0, -19 then a Hue/Saturation layer and set the Saturation to -50. Duplicate this last layer and set the blending mode to Soft Light with the fill 40% to add some contrast.

Step 2 – Background

Place the sky stock image as shown below. Using a soft round brush with low flow erase the bottom. Add a Vibrance layer to it with +70 of Vibrance.
Now place the monuments image and remove its sky. Also using a soft round brush erase the bottom so it blends well with the foreground as shown in image 2.

 Step 3

Make a selection of the monuments image and press Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new layer then fill it with any color (by pressing Ctrl+backspace or Alt+Backspace). Press Ctrl+D to deselect. Lower the Fill to 0%. Go to the layer style and check the inner shadow. See the values in image 3a.
