In this tutorial you will learn how to create a conceptual artwork in Photoshop using manipulation techniques to match colors and contrast using blend modes and adjustment layers, light effects and perspective grids.

The tutorial is 1 hour long structured into 6 parts:
- Background set up (create the structure of the manipulation combining all the stock images using masking)
- Blending and light (explaining how I used layer styles, blend modes and adjustments to blend all stock images)
- Road sign (shows how I created the road sign and added the texture)
- Perspective (how to create a perspective grid so that you can realistically replicate the road sign along the rail tracks )
- Shadows (creating the shadows for the man and the road signs)
- Final effects (using adjustment layers and filters to create the final HDR looking high contrast effect)
This tutorial is intended for intermediate level users. You need to know how to work with layers, masks and how to create clipping masks and adjustment layers even though I explain everything in detail.
The tutorial was made in CS6 but it can be followed in CS5, CS4 and CS3.

Depende de lo mucho que conozcas la interfaz de photoshop porque hay ilustraciones i tal. Si quieres puedes probar la de 3 meses q solo vale 9 euros pero a partir de Marzo ya no existira la suscripcion de 3 meses

Hi, I just uploaded the files back in zip format, you should be able to open zip files. Again it’s in 2 parts but this time they are not related.
There is just 2 separate files one containing the source files and the other one containing the videos. Hope you can download them without problems
When I try to unzip the download file, all I get are more zipped files with strange names ending in cpgz??

I think this is going to cause more problem than it solves so I’m going to upload this again but separating the videos.
The reason why I wouldn’t upload 1 single file is because it’s about 1GB and people had problems with interrupted downloads. I’ll upload it again and reply to let you know when it’s done
I am downloading the 2 files, but when I open the first file, I end up with more zipped files – ending in .cpgz. HELP please!!

Never mind the problem, i figured it out. I was using firefox browser, and tried downloading with internet explorer and it downloaded and extracted with no problems.

I’m enjoying my subscription. You are a very talented artist, and I’m learning new ways of doing composites that are better looking and more realistic than the ones I’ve been doing for years. I really enjoyed this tutorial. I have a question though…. When you create the color overlay so the color of the tracks matches the sky, you just key in the number… you never show how or where you sampled that color. I’m assuming you get the color from the sky, but which part?

Hi Rich.
I sampled that color from the clouds where they are a bit darker. The exact color tone is not really that important as long is it’s a close match. You can even use the Hue/Saturation adjustment and check the Colorize option and adjust the sliders and get the color by eye without worrying about the color code.
The reason why I gave you the color code is so that you can get a result as close as possible to mine.

I just wanted to take the time to wish you every success with these new Premium tutorials. Tons of people know a lot about Photoshop but not everyone has the skill to actually teach it in a way that’s easily understood – you have that skill for sure.
I haven’t been able to view this tutorial because the download is in RAR format, and I simply refuse to download and install third party software.
I hope you don’t mind me making this suggestion, but could you please use Zip rather than RAR. Windows and Macs alike can unzip these without the need for third party downloads.

All download links should appear at the bottom of the article, right at the bottom under above the sharing icons and the thumbs icons.
You’re not stupid, don’t worry for all these messages. Maybe you’re not the only one that has this problem. I just replied to your other email with the screenshots you sent me and looks like you have access but maybe the download module is not properly set up. Chek your mail and reply via email if the problem is not solved.

Well, to be honest 12$ is not that much I think. I worked many hours for 2 weeks to prepare this tutorial, recording, editing the audio an video and making the artwork itself. I’ve seen tutorial DVDs that charge a lot more fut just a few videos.
True that this is only one video but I think the techniques shown can be applied to any artwork of this style. I’m trying to show techniques that you can apply to your own artworks.
The result of my tutorial is just one of the possible outcomes but you can make your own artwork applying the same technique. All that’s needed is a bit of creativity when combining images and come up with original ideas but that’s something I cannot teach. It requires practice.
